Looks like a shepherd's crook to me.

I've known Matt for a long time (in fact, I think I was there when he registered thenarrative for something else!) But it was only when he actually started using it as his blog that I saw his photos for the first time. And his was one of the photoblogs that pushed me to start my own, so I owe him a lot.
